The Centre for Improved Rural Health and Environmental Protection (CIRHEP) is a registered voluntary, non–governmental organization (NGO) working for the improvement of the health of the rural people and in conserving the environment. CIRHEP also supports the rural community by providing education, empowering women and promoting income generation schemes.

Our major focus is on the conservation of the rural landscape including watershed development, environmental education and organic / bio-dynamic agriculture.

VISION
Building the capacities of rural communities in conserving the Vaigai – Kaveri watershed in Dindigul, Theni & Madurai districts and making the area sustainable for better livelihood.

MISSION
To create a sustainable human – ecology relationship and improve the quality of rural life by striving to alleviate poverty, provide education and conserve the environment with active participation of the rural community.

TARGET AREA
CIRHEP is committed to work for the integrated development of about 35 villages situated around the Kadavakurichi Reserve Forest, located 4 km southwest of Nilakottai town in Dindigul District, Tamil Nadu.

PROGRAMMES
With assistance from NABARD, Future Earth, Sweden & CIRHEP Friends Group’, Sweden, we have been implementing the following activites. Watershed Development, Environmental Education through nature schools, Empowerment of women through Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Nabard Farmers’ Clubs, organic agriculture, beekeeping and honey processing, medicinal plants cultivation, training centre.
